CCLBA’s mission is to breathe new life into abandoned, tax delinquent properties in Cook County.  When CCLBA rescues a property and connects it to a new developer or homeowner, it follows the property to ensure that it is revitalized and maintained. Among other tools, CCLBA uses a deed restriction that requires the new owner to rehabilitate the property within a reasonable timeframe. CCLBA works with the new owner to ensure they complete the rehabs and may provide extensions, if circumstances support one.  However, in some unfortunate cases, CCLBA needs to exercise is right to reenter the property and find a new owner to take action.
